Folsom Snake

Folsom Snake

Here’s another one on disgusting things that crawl. It was a Sunny Saturday afternoon and one of our grandsons was playing a baseball game close to our home. We went to his games whether they were close or far but close was just kinda nicer for us. And besides being closer, it was being played at one of the brand new parks in the area and we were looking forward to seeing it. We showed up a little before the…

Thanksgiving 1984 PART TWO

Thanksgiving 1984 PART TWO

THANKSGIVING 1984 Part 2 It took us a week to drive across to California and it was a fun, exciting week. I told my girls we were pioneers and that their new best friends were waiting to meet them. I knew one day a California NATIVE would be born and that would be my height, I’d have a native…proof that we made it! We were a caravan of four cars; oldest daughter, her girlfriend, our family car and “Lucy,” the…

Thanksgiving 1984

Thanksgiving 1984

1984 finally. The magical year. The year I’d been waiting for since I was a teenager. The year I thought might never come. But there it was and…there we went. Gila Monsters On The Screen Door.

Gila Monsters On The Screen Door.

I have a fear of reptiles but I don’t think that’s any big deal, I’m sure there’s lots of us afraid of those disgusting looking creatures. But, maybe everyone who’s afraid doesn’t really know why they’re afraid. I do. It was my mom, it’s her fault, she’s the source, she’s why I’m so afraid. Now, I’m not (ordinarily) a blamer, I know blame’s a crippler but, well…… it IS what it is and my mother gave me that fear, got…

The Unspoken Hello

The Unspoken Hello

A wave is an unspoken hello, right? Well, that’s what it is for me anyways. Our kitchen window looks over and into the kitchen window of the condo across from us; their sink, to be exact. So, if I’m at my sink and my neighbors across the way are at theirs, if we look up, we’re kinda looking at each other. I mean we’re not so close as we can see the color of each others eyes but we CAN…

A hungry dog, a trumpet, a little kindness and my daughter

A hungry dog, a trumpet, a little kindness and my daughter

Met my daughter at the water this afternoon and we walked her 2 dogs; gave them treats everytime they didn’t act like they were gonna rip passer-by dogs apart. (a couple real wicked Yorkies!) Walked, talked, laughed and then sat on a bench overlooking the Pacific for a while near a grassy knoll. A gentleman walked by with just the cutest pit-bull puppy. He pulled and pulled at his leash when he saw that the two killer Yorkies were getting…
