WE ARE WOMEN HEAR US ROAR!

WE ARE WOMEN HEAR US ROAR!

I’m dedicating this Blog to women…..younger women, older women, all women and especially to YOU reading my words this moment.

And to my men friends please come along and keep reading.

The message I’m trying to convey is not about bashing men.

But I don’t know how else to say what I’m feeling inside of me.

So I guess your perception of my words is gonna have to be your reality on this one.

Bashing men is not my point (that’s another story!)

What I’m trying to do is wake up and shake up women.

Women friends, in your wildest thoughts, can you even imagine NOT being able to vote?

Visualize it.

Anything political is not aimed at you.

It all addresses  men because voting is nothing we’re ALLOWED to do.

Can you even stand that thought?

Maybe because it’s always been our right, maybe we’ve never really stopped to think what women before us did.

They fought for THEIR rights but they had us in mind too.

They did that for US!

I mean we’ve never had to deal with that but women DID!

Had they not fought for that equal right to men, we would NOT be casting our votes for anything or anyone EVER.

Our opinions wouldn’t matter.

I mean REALLY think about this…..  NOT BEING ABLE TO VOTE!

MEN DID NOT ALLOW WOMEN TO VOTE! …..and so they didn’t!

Men drafted the constitution, men made the laws of the land…..men ruled!

SUFFRAGE….yep, women had to fight men to have that right.

I’m aware that this is not a 100% thing.

I’m aware that there are women now as there has been throughout history who agree with the male way of thinking, ruling and living.

(But,they get to vote, don’t they?!)

However, there are a hell of a lot more women who have fought against this male dominated country and right here may I mention and THANK the men throughout history and TODAY who are right there standing with us and believing in us.

THANK YOU GENTLEMEN!

It’s a crucial time.

We just can’t roll along anymore.

We need to be heard.

WE NEED TO BE COUNTED!

The male dominated system is not working.

I want to remind you that…..

Women couldn’t be priests or pastors.

And, for how long, how many years, have some of these men-of-God who preached the good word, molested children during their spare time?

How many?

And what happened to them?

I’ll tell you, for years and years, they were hid.

Other men knew that children were falling prey to molesting hands of the church and turned their heads, closed their eyes, hid the guilty.

But women for some reason, women weren’t good enough to lead.

Women had to fight for Equal Pay and that issue wasn’t dealt with until  1983, just 35 years ago!

A woman could work side by side with a man but she wouldn’t get the same pay.

And WHO decided that rule?

And in truth, do you really think it’s equal yet today?

Women couldn’t open their own Bank Account, get a Loan or have CREDIT in just their name as late as 1975!

AND single women needed their FATHER’S SIGNATURE for a loan or credit!!!

Can you imagine being a successful, single, working woman and needing your father to co-sign for you for a loan?

Go there in your thoughts.

Oh, there were reasons alright and men made them.

Women weren’t ALLOWED to work in the legal profession.

No female attorneys!

No Gloria Allred!!

Women couldn’t have their spouse prosecuted for rape.

Guess who made that rule?

Just for a moment, think of the injustice of this.

You have an alcoholic, drugged or just plain crazy husband, he rapes you.

You can run, you can hide but you have no protection because he can rape you without punishment!

There have been and maybe still are countries where rape is used as  discipline to a “disobedient” wife.

A disobedient wife….what’s that?

Women couldn’t serve on a jury and why was that?

We don’t have a sense of fairness in us?

We’re not smart enough?

WORKING WOMEN were refused mortgages in the 70‘s without the signature of a male guarantor.

Let me say here how damn proud I was of my sister.

She was a single working parent and fought the system.

It was a long battle but she didn’t give up and…..she won.

She bought a house on her own, no male signatures needed.

But had it been a brother, there would have been none of the roadblocks that she had to tear down.

Do you know there was a time when women were refused the right to go somewhere and have a drink unaccompanied and without a male?

Do you know that?

What’s so right about that?

In the beginning of “the pill”, it was offered only to married women.

How stupid was that?

Women made that rule?

I don’t think so.

Abortions were not legal.

That has never stopped them from being done.

But women had to put their lives in the hands of back-alley butchers if they wanted an abortion.

They had no say-so, no rights to their own reproductive bodies.

I realize what a hot topic this is.

When it comes to abortion, it’s not just men who fight a woman’s rights.

Women fight it too.

I understand not believing in it.

I DON’T understand thinking others can make decisions about what we do with our bodies.

And like anything and everything else.

If you’re against something, just don’t do it!

Maybe if Birth Control was FREE and abortions although legal, were extremely expensive?

Some think making Birth Control Free is condoning sex.

They either have no memory or are in utter and complete denial.

Remember hormones?

Hormones don’t care!

“Barefoot and pregnant”….real funny.

Ya think that’s how women REALLY wanted to be?

Advertising turned us into male sex objects many years ago and YES, many women went for it and did real well (still do) but we’re much more than sex objects.

Besides boobs, we have excellent working BRAINS!

Forever when violent acts were committed against women, not a thing could be or was done about it.

In the beginning of abused women coming forward, they came with apprehension and shame.

WHY?

WHY wasn’t the male abuser ashamed?

He simply denied it, that’s all.

It didn’t happen because the male said so.

I do understand there are women who will use this as false accusations and that’s as wrong as a man committing it and then denying it.

I don’t understand women who don’t believe this happens.

Lucky for them, they don’t know it as a truth.

Too many of us do!

Women were denied the right to serve in the armed forces other than back up roles, and thank you to every one of you.

Again, not all women desire to be involved in the military (me for one) but if a woman wants to and is able then why not?

Because men do war better?

They sure have.

That’s something they’re fairly good at, especially at starting them.

How many wars have actually been started by women?

Think about that one!

Some women (again, not me) wanted entrance into Military Academies or Ivy League Educations.

Why not?

If that’s the path they want to follow, why shouldn’t they be allowed?

Oh, because there’s a big chance of sexual crimes happening with both sexes on campus?

REALLY?

And being female makes the woman responsible for that?

Do you know there was a time, not so long ago when women could and WERE fired for being pregnant?

What?

We stop being able to perform our jobs when we get pregnant?

Another one to ponder.

In OUR time women were not “allowed” to file sexual harassment charges.

That made it real easy for men to put their hands wherever they chose, and say whatever they wanted sexually AND THEY DID!

Is that OK?

Our country has had FORTY FIVE presidents, not one woman.

Think it over….. we don’t have women who’ve got it together WAY more than some of these forty five?

Really?

The LGBT community has been discriminated against with gender expression, marriage, adoption, oh and wedding cakes!

Yep, I know merchants have that right and, isn’t that sad?

A wedding cake!

Take that one a little further.

A baker won’t bake a wedding cake for a Lesbian couple.

Probably many marriages are already over that the baker baked cakes for so, what’s the big deal?

Nothin’ magic about those cakes anyways!!

I don’t mean to paint a picture that’s all one way or the other, it’s not and we all know that.

But, I’m wondering how many jails and penitentiaries would be needed in this country to hold just convicted females?

Convicted for serious crimes, the kinds that make them dangerous to be out in society.

And, how many for men?

HONESTY!

We need some honesty.

We’ve been held down way too long and look what’s happened.

So here we are, I’ve hit the end.

I hope this was all taken in the manner it was meant.

I promise, my point really wasn’t to bash men.

For the most part…..I like men!

This is NOT about political parties.

This is about the people who’ve been running this country…..they’re rich, old and outdated.

They don’t have a clue what life is really like for so many of us.

They need to go.

Their time is up.

My point, if you still haven’t felt the prick is this…..

LADIES, it’s time!

We can do this.

We can stand together, strong and firm and be counted and there’s lots of us.

There are leaders among us.

We need to care like the women before us who fought and won.

The atrocities that are going on today in this country will brand us forever in all the history books and stories of tomorrow.

Let the readers of those books read on to find that finally women did as the women before them, we were pushed too far, we rebelled AND WON against the wrongs being done.

We need to take these bulls (and bullies!) by the horn, address issues and DO SOMETHING about them.

We need to be a working government FOR THE PEOPLE.

We need to get out there and, ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO VOTE.

We need to get involved like never before.

Let’s take the power from the decision-makers that have kept us as second class citizens and become a strong sister-hood like never before.

It’s our turn.

Ready?

Set?

Let’s go!

Everything I’ve written about here today is truth.

My facts are history and easily checked.

And please, if you’d like to SHARE this Blog…..go for it.

Oh, and congratulations to the women of Saudi Arabia who are now being ALLOWED to drive and even get a job….with the permission of a male, of course!!

    1. Phillip!!! Oh my gosh what a surprise. THANK YOU. I SO appreciate you reading AND responding to my Blog. It’s hard to know if anyone is reading unless I receive a response so again I thank you. Know that I enjoy reading your facebook entries also. And together we….ROCK ON! xxx

  2. I enjoy your passion, Sue. You will hear no arguments from me regarding Women’s rights! We must not forget the past; and support each other in honoring the pain and suffering our Sisters went thought to gain our current rights. All these years later after the failure of the ERA in the late 70’s, I am still in disbelief. Equal Rights under the law of our constitution is still a dream. As years have passed, the mood of our country has changed and the current administration Fails to even respect the rule of law. How sad to be living in this time of regression from civil and equal rights to Fasicim. We must persist….

    1. Deborah, THANK YOU for reading and responding to my Blog. I worry that this younger generation just doesn’t know the fight we and the women before us have fought to get this far only to be backed down by hate mongers. Again, thank you for reading. xxx
